Research and development activities
The main area of activity of the Laboratory is the production and characterization of carbon nanomaterials (including graphene oxide GO, reduced graphene oxide rGO, carbon nanotubes SWCNTs and MWCNTs, carbon nanoparticles and dots CNPs and CNDs) and other functional products in the form of nanoparticles. In addition, LG PW is engaged in the study of applications for the obtained nanomaterials:
- as catalysts for electrooxidation of formic acid, oxygen reduction, hydrogen evolution and photocatalysis,
- for the production of biomaterials, including fluorescent markers, drug carriers, biocidal substances,
- for anticancer therapies, for the production of polymer composites with thermal insulation properties, high mechanical strength and conductive properties (membranes, foams),
- for the production of lubricants based on molybdenum disulfide and nanocarbon composites.
Key research equipment:
-
Chemical synthesis reactor of volume of 20 L;
- Large laboratory filtration system - for carbon nanosuspensions;
- Laboratory calender;
- UV-Vis spectrophotometer;
- CHNS/O elemental analyzer;
- X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDXRF);
- Multi-module TGA/DSC/FTIR/QMS analyzer;
- Inversion optical microscope with manipulators;
- Climatic chamber;
- Plasma chamber;
- Potentiostat with the possibility of impedance measurements;
- Spincoater;
- Automatic paint applicator - a device for manufacturing thin polymer films
Services offer:
-
production of standardized flake graphene (GO and rGO) for the needs of scientific research and industrial orders,
- production of modified and functionalized carbon nanomaterials, including flake graphene (GO and rGO) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for their applications, e.g. for the production of composite materials, in the chemical industry or in biomedicine,
- production of functional nanoparticles with precisely defined properties, e.g. MoS2 lubricant particles,
- studies of physicochemical properties of nanomaterials and composites using the equipment available in the Laboratory.
